CHRISTMAS IN A BOX

I am saving Christmas for next year
The joy of celebrating has disappeared
No flickering lights no Christmas tree
No ginger beer or eggnog for me
I am going to sit this one out
My mother is long gone
And my only sister has moved south
The mailbox is empty
Not even a card
No gifts rapped in colorful paper
No caroling in my front yard
I have this strange feeling
That Christmas is only for kids
And at this time of year
I would give anything
To be a child again
But my wish will never come trough
So just like the year before
I know what I'll do
All of my Christmas thoughts
I'll melt them like hot wax
Tie them with colorful ribbons
And save them in a box.
