Chronic Indigestion

Chronic Indigestion

There's so much you can take, wouldn't you agree,
just too much engineered, contrived sentimentality,
we've been told about jumping into pictures on the wall,
but not all of us are interested in Harry Potter at all.

We have our own picture, usually quite well hung,
to which we can all grin and just stick out our tongue;
yesterday I got lost, couldn't find the usual way out,
that's when you realize that there's always room for doubt.

That's when you're aware of your fallibility, a cypher,
and this life will make you disappear if you let her;
I feel that I've been here many times to open my way,
but we really don't need chronic indigestion they say.

That life is hard enough already without the unnecessary,
take stock, you may be once, as an unwelcome adversary.
