Clown

Nobody can be that happy all the time
What lurks behind the painted smile ?
They make us laugh , Cheer up many a soul
When a lot of their make up
Conceals many a dark hole .
They say 'Tears of a clown'
Maybe it should be 'Fears for a clown' .
When the audience isn't there
The slap stick and jokes are forgotten
Battling with a self that seems corrupt and rotten .
- Many a last laugh is a hollow encore .

Bloody Bloody Oath Chris. Damn this came at just the right time for me. Excellent poem that couldn`t go without a pin.
Good afternoon FOTS (I feel awful I've totally forgotten your name , forgive me please) I'm so thrilled you enjoyed my piece , I don't know why I only see sinister in clowns ! They've never done me any harm as far as I'm aware !! Sending warm wishes always and hoping you're keeping well , Chris :)
I agree with Max. This is certainly deserving of a pin. I don't believe I've read your poems before. I'll have a look through your back catalogue when I have time.
Brilliantly written - Syd
Good afternoon Syd and thank you so much for your positive feedback ! I hope you do find some of my back catalogue interesting and thank you again for your kind words , Chris :)
I love this piece. I have wondered this same question, and the way you phrased your hypothesis was quite chilling.
