The Coastline (Inspired by Gerald Levert: “Baby U Are”)

I float, my love: falling into the coastline. Levert is wailing.

Something dies—a soul of tears. What happened? Death is

So intricate. But o’ the music—to grow tall as trees. Even to

Climb—the waves of anger. And I dangle midair, adrift a

Memory. My too distant pain, joy was so sweet. We danced—

A miracle, afraid to trespass. And inconsistencies—floated

The coastline. So many tears, my love: my blurry vision.

And God—a precious prayer. Might I perish, my soul?—

Adrift the coastline. For something shines, a marvelous

Portal. But destiny, a fortress of shards—the mind to trickle.

Egress the hatred, a forest gem; and grip the vine, the wings

Of blood. For something shines, a marvelous portal. Thus,

The coastline, wings and beauty—a brilliant sun. I float, my

Love: falling into memories.
