The cold and heavy cross
You're baby placed in foster care's a cold and heavy cross to bear,
The child you felt inside you growing, had no idea that she'd be going,
The New Years Eve but one that passed, you never dreamt could be the last,
You spent beside your precious jewel, for breaking each n every rule,
You shattered each and every one, then wake to find your baby gone,
A place of safety then was placed, as Mum & Dad were then replaced,
With parents who raised her for a wage, the pair were almost twice my age,
They know their place protect, provide, but what about the love inside,
A mother's love's a baby's right a spark,a flame would not ignite,
No heartfelt love of which to share, you can't mistake love when it just isnt there,
As through the motions watch them go,two years on and hardly know,
The babe you carried round inside, and comforted each time she cried,
The one who shares your flesh n blood, and every part of you that's good,
All bundled up and wrapped in love, that precious gift from God above,
But thoughts and memories in your mind, just go to show life's so unkind,
Unkind, unjust and so unfair, that cold and heavy cross you bear.
