Cold Bedroom

I hated getting out of bed in winter.
My room was a plaster room
painted the color blue.

The room was
cold, 
wintry,
chilly,
fridid
especially in winter.

Was I lazy or a sleep-a-holic?

Going from the shower
to my room to change,
I learned to change quickly.

When I came from college
Dad said,  "We had the furnance
looked at by a repairman.

The heating vent to you room
from the furnace
was closed - 
the repairman opened it.

Oh snap!

So many blue nights
over 15 years
in my blue room
turning blue -

especially painful
on the nights of fighting
the shaky, naueaus,  sweaty
cold spells of the flu -

all due to a closed vent
which so easily
could have been fixed
with the turning of a wrench.
