Collecting Footprints

Collecting Footprints

Following her footsteps
I gently collect each footprint
Tuck them in between leaves
Of the diaries we have lived,
As bookmarks to perhapsĀ
Someday sit back and introspect.
Since time's rebirth that evening
Of her songs, my silly vignettes; of
Visiting raindrops and a shy moon,
When neither spoke to the other and
The day endedĀ the next morning with
A complete conversation.
She's been gifting bookmarks,
I've been collecting footprints.
