Come Home

My senses are awakened-
By her misty mountain air.
My mind drifts back to childhood-
This mountain lady awaits me there.
Her many trees, then were my ladders-
For to climb up towards the sky!
Her multi-colored leaves formed my castle!
The cardinal's song? A lullaby.
Her luscious green grass padded my footsteps-
As I danced the dance of youth!
Her mountainous beauty was the back drop-
As I grew up on Bible truth!
Her rivers giving depth to her highlands!
Her streams elegant and sparkling clear!
Her curves and slopes are alluring-
They draw her people ever near!
Rainbows reflecting off her waterfalls!
Sunbeams warming the bubbly foam!
When the miles of distance separate us-
I can hear her cry, Come Home!
Come Home to mountain serenity-
To a friend who is ever there!
Let our hearts rejoice in laughter-
As the mountains echo our love with care!
Ever this sweet lady is waiting.
It matters not in which season she speaks.
Her breeze ever whispers my name!
A devoted friend is all that she seeks!
Today, I will answer her calling-
Winds of yesterday have blown, as I've sailed.
Back home, mine eyes again scan her beauty-
West Virginia.......God's artwork unveiled!
