Comfortably Numb

My heart is pent up like a flood
But my feet are stuck in the mud
After a torrential rain
It took forever to gain
Control of the raging sea
That lives inside of me
I use this force to generate
The power that runs the flood gate
I hold it back like a damn
Doing the best I can
To catch all the overflow
Sometimes I feel it's about break
As it swells atthe banks
And rises above the flood lines
I've learned some things along the way
About the weather and the springs
And the many other things
To watch it closely during these times
So I don't get caught by surprise
The dry season is finally here
I can rest now and so become
Comfortably numb
