Competition

Competition

Nothing like being competitive, holding the trophy,
no longer the backroom boy, up front where should be;
what did you win in your life - not a lot, very nice wife,
as for the rest, it often seemed like trouble and strife.

They want to put you down, you feel like a clown,
but then, man of the moment, smartest guy in town;
not for long, oh dear - how the mighty have fallen,
never mind, grab your balls, chances won't come again.

Passed the driving test - what more could you ask for?
How good were you at sport, not your fault being poor;
then someone said I was brilliant, but then wondering,
why don't you get a 'move on,' how many jobs you doing?

I won a competition - my expertise was finally apparent,
it turned out to be classic because I was the only entrant!
