Connected

Connected

In the Summer of 1964, I was dealing in coins full time;
Foreign ones were really hot then, the market was at it’s prime!
I had a nice collection available, of Israeli Commemoratives;
From half-shekels to one-pound silvers, a call to a dealer did I give!
.
He agreed to buy them for four thousand, and pay me when they came in;
I sent them up and waited, for his transaction to begin!
One week led to two weeks, then another passed unpaid;
He avoided all my phone calls, so furious this me made!
.
I went to see my Father, and told him of my plight;
He made a phone call up to Cleveland, to a man of monstrous might!
None other than, “The Godfather”, who my Dad knew very well;
The next day some henchmen went to see the con man, told him, “Pay or go to Hell”!
.
He called me with tears aflowing, apologized, and said “your money is on it’s way”;
“I’m sending it by Courier Mail”, it arrived the very next day!
Sometimes it pays to be “Connected”, when lots of money is involved;
For my Father made one phone call, and the issue was resolved!
.
.
                           The thief thought me young
                          But old ways taught a lesson
                                 Pay or lose your life
