Constant Companions

The piercing phalanx once drove it home!
Seemingly; long before the fall of Rome.
Once a knife was thrust into my back!
Betrayal; or ridicule never being lack!
Losing loved ones; came the sudden shock!
Just another way my lonely world would rock!
Sickness and disease my companions in life,
No outlet was found from the weary knife!
Shocked! the answer was never in a pill,
I discovered fluid pain can flow uphill!
Avoiding the latest inflicting sword!
I give away and pour pain up to the Lord.
The Savior took and removed the bitter cup!
So when I need relief, I simply look up.

The knife of betrayal stabs deeply and causes great pain. I love how this is all worded. You are a wonderful poet. I'm sorry you have suffered this pain but glad you have found solace in your faith. Great poem x
thank you Being Me!
Hi Jim, faith is a powerful thing. It can become the only thing left to lean on and gain strength from. Your faith shines here through these tragic words. May you always have that strength of faith Jim. So sorry to read of your suffering. My thoughts are with you

hi sparrowsong! thank you!
Jim so nicely expressed and so well written throughout and in your resilient message.
Pain is everywhere almost endemic but Faith is everything and without it, one is vacant and truly lost.
Good to read and so well done and your closing end line speaks volumes about the honourable man you are and your beliefs.
Beliefs sometimes unfortunately today others lose sight of or discard, but in others alive and well.
Going from strength to strength
Thank you Jim and your thoughts I echo.
Wishing you well my friend and Blessings to you.
