Controlling

i have sat and thought
and this controlling thing has to stop
see it drives me up a wall
that i have to stop what i am doing to answer a call
or respond to a text
that most of the time leads to stress
wait maybe this is a test 
let's see who can do it best
to make not one mistake
and bring not one person pain
to love someone unconditionally
without being controlling
not killing the person they are on the inside
and just standing there to watch them die 
not to give them mouth to mouth
as they struggle to let breath out 
to watch them fade away slowly
while having them say "that's just the old me"
but it was really the uncontrollable me
who you are afraid to see
that one side that couldn't be put into a box 
with so many locks 
so please just stop trying to control me
with the four walls of your empty box
