Counted Love

Counted Love

You gave me five reasons to love you.
You gave me five years of your life.
Just you and me. Just only...you and me.
Baby you gave me the world.
Our paths interlocked under that hot Cinco de Mayo sun.

Baby had me after we danced to “Five for Fighting”, when the sun no longer could take our beauty and had to disappear among the stars.
That’s when you became my number one; Monday through Friday, we fell in love, something I never felt until you.
You are the meaning of love, the perfect interpretation.
No one else remembers you like I do and no one knows about our matching infinity tattoos.
We were suppose to be forever, but forever is just a word with hopeful meaning.

I miss our moments together like the spark from your fingertips, when you gentle crest my cheeks; to your smile that calmed my heart when I stepped out onto the stage.
You gave me five reasons to love you.
You gave me five long years to need you.
Every moment was a privileged to be in love with you.
Every fifth day I leave a rose with you below your name and sit remembering that hot sun licking my skin, those dark chocolate eyes moving with mines, and the first time you said; “I love you.”

An expression of love.
That now seems lost.
A beautiful tribute.
To a love now lost.
Thank you kindly
