Countless Blessings

Countless Blessings

The smell of rain
After a perfect storm.
The beauty of a pure heart
In the womb as it forms.

The dance of leaves
As they fall in late-September.
The blooming of flowers
After a harsh winter.

New cities, cafes, and faces
Waiting to be found.
Seeing your love smile at the stars
As you lie on the ground.

The taste of the night
As you go too fast in your car.
The company of fire and friends
As you sing along to the guitar.

The laughter of family
At a Thanksgiving table together.
The hope of heaven assured
By the Gospel wrapped in leather.

These are only a few things
That my heart is grateful for.
Too often taken for granted
When I should thank God more.

Though I am as poor as a beggar
And often my heart may need a stitch.
You must believe me when I say
That I am truly rich.
