THE COURTESAN (Sicilian Sonnet)

In plush red satin, lace and candle glow
She lies regally nude atop an ermine fur
While contemplating a picture of her beau
And thinks of happy days and how things once were…
Laughing merrily with her sister in tow,
Sharing girlish secrets they would confer
And debate who would sleep on the one pillow!
Alas, those happy times are simply a blur!
Within this lush bed her lover will loll…
Kiss and caress her and part her soft thighs;
Extolling her beauty as that of a doll,
Licking her nether lips while she contently sighs.
Here she must dissemble and give it her all
To ensure he will return next eventide!

Valerie Eleby,
An excellent sonnet along with a beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing.
Sonnets - Why fourteen lines? Why not? The fourteen lines allows for
some creative breaks in traditional sonnets. Shakespearean
sonnet has three quatrains, (a quatrain is group of four lines) followed by
a couplet.
(Eager to learn more on Sicilian Sonnet with the help of the esteemed Poetess ).
Thanks for posting, Regards & Love
