Courtship

What should I expect from this mysterious sea?
Should I embrace this life; or is there cause to flee?
Do I seek your beauty like this random flower?
Or choose escape from the leviathan power?
Do I swim and glide on the shining surface of waves?
Or shake in terror of what is housed in looming caves?!
Shall I dance and play on a jagged coral reef?
Or peer in horror at the great white jaws of teeth?!
Where will your tide and skipping storms carry me?
What in your magnifying depth will I see?!
What will I ponder and learn in your schools of fish?
Were the joyous dolphins allowed to make a wish?
I long to flow with your realm; that calls to me!
Seal this courtship, love of my mysterious sea!

I was thinking of scuba diving and maybe I should have said play around the coral reef, thank you so much for reading and your support Gwendoline!
Cup half empty or cup half full...courage or quaking. Fearful or fearsome? That's what your beautiful poetic verse got me thinking Jim...do we really choose our perspective on the world or is it coded into our DNA at birth...lovely work x
I'll take" beautiful poetic verse" and run with it! thank you so much Marion!
A nautical journey of a poem that raises more questions than answers and perhaps in life things should remain that way.
A great and most flowing sonnet you've shared with one and all Jim.
And your choice of image greatly adds to the mysteries of the beautiful briny sea and endless emotion it has clearly instilled in you and your enchanting writing.
Thank you Jim for sharing, full honours and I wish you well sir.
Shaun! thank you so much for reading, support and your assessment! much appreciated!
Jim I have many more of your poems to catch up on sir and will endeavour to do so.
All love turns to pain - learn to become your own best friend, enjoying your own company, and stillness and solitude, and you still have yourself when you lose the other.
Pain is the cost of love - which is worth it when the grieving work is done and past memories bring a smile to the face.
like that name James! thanks for reading!
I'll be back! Gotta run but I love this one! How far you have come with your poetry Jim!!!
I be back!!! At least for the minute Jim... I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this one! Besides the theme, it seems like a calling, asking questions of life... "What will life throw at me" and "What will I make of life". Simply an elegant poem with an awesome photo!! Just great work my friend. Sincerely Max
much thanks Max! all the best friend! having to spend time taking care of my dying dog, be back later
