Poem -

Creosote

when it rains I dream of you.

senseless, pouring, fleeting rain

and you.

the sky opens up and I fall to my knees

for you.

thunder shakes the lonely shadows to life

like you send tremors through my brain.

you won't be tamed.

and sanity's deranged.

yes, the heavens weep for you

but even tears mold monsters

and men.

you tease your thumb across my cheek

try to wipe away the pain that flees

when you hold me softly and surge through me.

I am dust.  I am fear.  silence screaming in the eye of the storm.

crushing as I wait for you to disappear.

and your whispers evaporate from my ear.

left with only your taste on my tongue.

dreaming of the smell of creosote

when you come to me

in the desert night.

Good write, thanks for sharing, my applause, my vote

when you hold me softly and surge through me.

I am dust.  I am fear.  silence screaming in the eye of the storm.

crushing as I wait for you to disappear.

and your whispers evaporate from my ear.
