Crimson Rivers

Does the poppy know of its
demise
When crimson in the meadow
fields,
It rises proudly, head to sun
Might it know then that,Β
A winter comes
Does earth from where the
poppies spawn
Ere hush itself and silent mourn
Even as the world turns bright
Even as the bees alight,
To merry make a world go
round
In cycles without any angst
For silent is the turning hand that
guides things
Not one understands
And might the earth ere mourn
its child
Even as its child runs wild
In seed and love with lightened
heart
Does earth already weep and
part
At ready for a coming day
When all its children fall and lay
In crimson rivers felled to gone
Does the poppy know how ends
Its song?

So much sadness in this clever write. To grieve for the inevitable demise of a beautiful soul. For once we understand the mortality of life, even as we see it flourishing...we are always aware of the dark truth awaiting their future. Thatβs what I felt as I read this...hugs xx
