Crosshairs

Crosshairs

A summer night long ago.
A final closing of the door.
Cash in hand.
Another days take.
Life is great.

Two good old boys
needing some cash
hiding in the briar patch.
Here he comes.
Pull the trigger.

A bullet to the head.
Gone in a flash.
Blood spilled on unholy ground.
Move the body.
Count the cash.

To the freezer
for the departed.
Enjoy the good life for awhile.

Fear is growing.
Move the corpse
Stop the fear.
Cut him up.
Into the river he goes.

The cash is spent.
Their cover is blown.
The body found floating
All alone.

Into the chair.
The two are thrown.
To face judgment
All alone..
