CRUSHED IN SPIRIT

 
A mother's heart weeps tonight 
Her thoughts are distant from the light 
The pain she feels is beyond expression 
So at the Lord's feet she kneels 
Seeking his love and affection 

The one she loved was taken from her arms 
The child she fed, nurtured and kept warm
She recalls the joy, laughter and pain 
And she will give her life as a ransom 
Just to see her child again 

There is nothing in this world 
That can comfort her soul 
She is crushed in spirit 
And wounded to the core

There is no words of wisdom 
That can caress her mind
She sees no beauty in the sunrise 
And experience severe pain with time.
