Cull This Fever (Inspired by Hozier: “To Be Alone”)

Plead my mercy; and cull this fever; for skin bleeds; and prayer
Ruffles; and so to die; and so to live; and firestorms: the reign
Of ghosts; and phantoms breathe: my fallen station. Unpeel
The mystic; and stitch the skin; and beat the heart; and answer

God; for valleys cry. And bless the dead: a whisper harsh; and
Never this fane; and ever this fane; and torch the mind: a
Torrent fever.  Cry this mercy; and cull this fever; for something
Lives—a razor’s blade; and something dies—a rising sword;

And panic this life: a field of bleeding sheep; and cry my
Father’s Love; for sin to nose; and nose to sin: I flit and fly and
Die to win. Hear the Christ—a final wail; and die to rise—and
Conquer hell; and feel the heart: a beating storm; and cult to
God: I’m torn alive. Cry this mercy; and cull this fever; for night
Is flame—and light is ripped.
