Dad's Story

Dad's Story

If only he knew..
"See! He refuses to fly!"
...how she'd clipped my wings

I'm a laughing stock...
"See how he neglects his son!"
...have to buy his time

The pain runs so deep...
"Dad, you're just a great big fake!"
...taking all I can

I hope that in time...
"God, you're so embarrassing!"
...he'll try to see it

The rug's been pulled out...
"You never come to visit!"
...in secret free fall

Do the best I can...
"Why are you always so broke?"
...to give him better

I want nothing back...
"I truly hate you old man!"
...than he know he's loved

I stand where you stood my love,
Before death claimed you.

Fragile Life

In night's autumn cold,
A small tawny mouse trembles,
Beneath a dead leaf.

Blue Rain

Blue Rain

Raindrops on the roof,
Lulls the most tormented souls,
Into calm slumber.
