Dancing With A Star, My Night With Angelique Kidjo

I was doing business in Philadelphia, the Spring of twenty-twelve;
Seeing lots of dealers in Fine Art, and shopping in antique malls as well!
At my close friends home in Phoenixville, I was going to spend the night;
We drank wine and did some business, they cooked a meal out of sight!
.
Then they took me to see an African singer, at a local University;
I told them I was exhausted, and if I fall asleep, don’t blame me!
Her name was Angelique Kidjo, and she sang with a combo band;
They played such pulse-beating music, all of a sudden, I had to stand!
.
For the sounds were so intoxicating, and her voice so powerful;
That I danced in place to the music, innate instincts, being pulled!
After a while, she asked for some people, to join her on the stage;
I was one of the first ones to get there, my libido in full rage!
.
She must have really dug me, for she danced right to my side;
We began to gyrate our bodies, with a drum player by our side!
Here was this iconic entertainer, being turned on by my moves;
We were getting down and dirty, both reeling in our grooves!
.
After a while she had to leave me, to give the others on stage a chance;
But I never will forget it, my life’s second greatest dance*!
My friends watched in amazement, as the concert came to end;
They said, “Larry, you’re a wild man, more time with you we have to spend”!
.
.
Amazing Kidjo
Brought primal instincts to me
The African way
.
*Of course, the “greatest” dance of my life is shown above next to Kidjo.
Linda’s and my first dance as man and wife, June 5th, 1993.
