Dandelion

Weeds grow quickly, flowers take time to grow

Dandelion

How beautiful I thought you were
Sun yellow with your bright shine
Most wonderful for sure
With the quick sprouted allure
Only now I come to see
You’re only a dandelion

I felt the world, with you beside me
All others around looked at you before me
For I was just a sprout,
Less full and stout
When your petals unfurled, all knelt to grab thee
While I was patiently waiting beside thee

How unlike the rest, completely unique
Until your seeds sprouted more
All attempting to resemble your supposed galore
And I realized, you’re only a dandelion

You laughed while I stood,
Feeble and new,
No petals but leaves,
all wrapped around me
Sheltering my adolescent stem
When,
You added life to the garden,
Made others like you,
And together,
You livened the garden
I only wish then I understood

Many only picked you,
And glazed over me,
Dazed over you,
Your presence restricted me
I know one day,
They will realize it too,
You’re only a dandelion

Now as I spread my petals wide
You no longer smile your shine my way
Your leaves are razors
And your stem threatens me
The sheer number of your forces
Reminds me of the epidemic
And I no longer worship your bright petals
Temporary, like a flash
Because now it is clear,
You’re just a dandelion.
