Dandelion
Weeds grow quickly, flowers take time to grow

How beautiful I thought you wereÂ
Sun yellow with your bright shineÂ
Most wonderful for sureÂ
With the quick sprouted allureÂ
Only now I come to see
You’re only a dandelionÂ
I felt the world, with you beside me
All others around looked at you before me
For I was just a sprout,Â
Less full and stoutÂ
When your petals unfurled, all knelt to grab thee
While I was patiently waiting beside thee
How unlike the rest, completely unique
Until your seeds sprouted moreÂ
All attempting to resemble your supposed galoreÂ
And I realized, you’re only a dandelionÂ
You laughed while I stood,Â
Feeble and new,
No petals but leaves,Â
all wrapped around meÂ
Sheltering my adolescent stemÂ
When,Â
You added life to the garden,
Made others like you,Â
And together,Â
You livened the garden
I only wish then I understoodÂ
Many only picked you,Â
And glazed over me,
Dazed over you,Â
Your presence restricted me
I know one day,Â
They will realize it too,
You’re only a dandelionÂ
Now as I spread my petals wide
You no longer smile your shine my way
Your leaves are razorsÂ
And your stem threatens me
The sheer number of your forces
Reminds me of the epidemicÂ
And I no longer worship your bright petals
Temporary, like a flash
Because now it is clear,
You’re just a dandelion.
