Dante Alighieri & I

Where indeed
if not my love tangled
would I be?
standing upon
my very own inferno
in misery?
how could I forsake love
that is burning in flames?
should I put it in a jar
suffocating it with closure?
leaving the air frozen in an untimely death?
my ever aching wish to
spread my fire of passion
onto you
leaves my soul and my heart
in a world without sense
there will never be a place
I could cherish more
in life or in death
than to be in your arms
therefore...
I could only be truly satisfied
in paradise or inferno
as long as I am with you.

It always amazes me that romantic love which should be a special joy is most often incredibly painful in its journey to whatever outcome. You have conveyed all this in your excellent work Shirley x
Thank you from the very bottom of my heart dearest Marion. Ever grateful to live in the same place of Dante, I find his work is truly inspiring in my own life. 🌹
Hello Shirley and if it's not too late, Welcome to Cosmo!
A superb write throughout with the joy of tender sentiment tempered by love's longing.
A fragile gift that once fractured, loses its power to allow you to place any faith in its aspects.
A most beautiful write Shirley and this reader is a Dante admirer as well.
Thank you for making my evening with your most appealing and passionate poem :)
