In The Dark
The monsters are not under our bed,Â
But rather they are in our heads.Â
Seeking shelter from the light,Â
They show and roam at night.Â
âIt is only a figment of your imagination.âÂ
I repeat to myself in frenetic repetition.Â
Glowing eyes coming from empty space,Â
Knowing itâs your soul they want to take.Â
You canât even escape them with sleep,Â
They come a visit you in your dreams.Â
Praying and begging, âPlease donât hurt me.âÂ
Afraid that Iâm completely losing my sanity.Â
Something dark, that I cannot see, is crawling very near,Â
It brushes my hair from my face tucking it behind my ear.Â
Saying, âOh darling, donât you cry,âÂ
âSoon forever youâll be all mine.âÂ
