Poem -

Darkness

Yesterday I saw a glimmer of light

But today it is dark

So dark that it consumes all that is near

I sit at the centre of my own Black Hole

And I feel the pain.

I hear the voices of friends

“You really have no reason to be sad”

But the darkness takes their words

And turns them to criticism

Of my pain

The hand of a loved one touches mine

I feel a momentary link to the outside

But the darkness feeds on the compassion

And turns it to rejection

I am alone with my pain

I see the shiny razor blade

And try to think of those who love me

If the blade were to tear through the veins

Would they forgive me

If I no longer felt the pain
