Darkness Envelopes Me

Darkness Envelopes Me

I wake up and darkness has hung her heavy mantle o'er my shoulders
It weighs down my thoughts
My head is heavy like a leaden tombstone
Darkness envelopes me..

She wasn't there yesterday
But now her black leather gloved hands
Have me by the throat
Opening my mouth
Forcing me to drink deeply of her black thoughts

All sense of joy and lightness are diminished
Pressure building in my head
A bubbling nihilistic cauldron
Of self defeating words

Where it comes from I know not
Only that it arrives as surely as the incoming tide
And covers me with it's heavy chains
Until I can bear no more
And silently retreat to the dark cave
There to lie
Covered in burgundy
Praying to God or whatever Gods may be
For my deliverance.
