Poem -

Darkness, My Partner

My wagon wheel is tattered in deep desert hole
Hot, baking wind searing my soul
In the pit of my stomach, an aching pain
My consciousness, a withering bane

No place to hide, no place to go
No peace to find, no repose to know
Breathing shallow, sighs deep
Teary eyes heavy from lack of sleep

Depression, anxiety and fear control
The sum of which is taking its toll
Lying in bed, covers drawn near
Darkness, my partner, in this world of fear
