Soils of Asia they have kissed
Austral SouthEast Central and West

They’ve tasted grasses slimes and grimes
smacked pebbles rocks and smooth shiny slates

they’re favourite haunts are in mud and sand
monkey forests and dry wasteland

from the caves of Qumran and wadis of Petra
to the Sundarband and gardens of Macao
Ashfelt and cement and rubber terrain
they’ve grazed and pummeled and padded on

gripping peddles of cycles and vespas
patting down trees and being massaged
marching defiant and meandering lost
temple tiles or carpets of chapel n mosque
undulation of cabin floors at 10 000ft
swaying steel busses through Indian streets

these make my feet happiest of all
