Poem -

Dear Death

By Syl

Death Death,

I just ran.
away from everyone
away from the pain
away from the memory
away from life

away from you.

I know I can't escape
I can feel you following me
Reaching your cold fingers
towards me
reminding me
making me watch it over
and over and
over and
over
The one moment I lost
everything.

You are watching me scream
into the darkness
the pitch black darkness
all I can think about is that endless empty darkness

And how much I miss the light

But Death,
there is only one thing that matters now.
One last thing.

And so,
Dear Death,
I forgive you.

I forgive you
for leaving me all alone
in a world I barely know yet.

I forgive you.
For taking everything I believed in,
a future that was mine and you stole from me
threw it in the fire and forced me to watch it burn

I forgive you

I forgive you for making sure I know
I will never escape you
and I will never escape life.

I forgive you, Death

I forgive you for everything.

Just please, please
Look after my family.
