Dear Lord don't let me die today

I'm a soldier
I fight against hunger
And I seem to lose.
I'm an orphan
My parents died
The same night
My father came home drunk
Without saying shot
My mother and shot
Himself.
My story began that night
The warm walls
I once called home
Turned to be a pond
Of blood.
My hopes, my future
Died there
That's when I realised
that life is unfair.
Dear Lord
They say you are
In heaven.
A place from us hiden
Perhaps having a lot of
Drinks and snacks
And your angels
Singing a lot of prays
Too loud.
For second I beg
Your pardon ,
Just don't let me die
Today.
I can feel the pain
of the whip I had yesterday
When I stole an apple
From a plastic bag
of a man I didn't know.
I know I shouldn't have
Stolen that apple
But I wouldn't survive
Another hour
Of hunger.
I fight with dogs
In the dust bins
For left overs.
I sleep in the sack
Under the bridges
In rainy seasons
And cold nights
But I know that's
Life I must live.
Don't let me die
Today.
I can feel my body
Surrenders,
My bones can't carry
Me any more
And my heart can't beat
Any longer
And my breath
Breaks.
Dear lord
Don't let me die
Today.
I wish to see tomorrow.
I want to tell a story
Of how I survived
This life.
Don't let me die
Today.
