Dear Potential Lover

I constantly worry, I constantly think.
It causes my thoughts to spiral and sink.
I promise I'm not crazy, in myself I have grown.
I could manage perfectly well on my own.
It's just I've been let down, again and again.
By those I trust most, it's always the same.
It kind of scares me how comfortable I am with you,
and I hope you feel the same way too.
So make me a pinky swear, and stamp it tight,
that you'll tell me the moment you want to take flight.
Don't lead me on, it's been done before.
I act like I'm tough, but I'm not, it's a flaw.
Just show me you aren't like the rest,
and I promise that I will be the best.
