I Already Know

New and exciting,
sneaking around.Ā
He comes home
with his head to the ground.
Unaware she knows,
he plays it cool.
She walks up to him slowly,Ā
asks, 'how do you feel?'
A million thoughts go racing through,
he begins to crumble
but she already knew.
His words they stumble,
he chokes on his words like he's eaten glue.
Does he even feel ashamed? Does he even feel blue?
She already knows he's been sneaking around.
But still, he keeps his head to the ground.
He's been chatting here,
flirting there,
and you can almost feel her despair.
In her chest, her heart pounds,
yet still he just sits there, looking around.
She just looks at him sadly when he says, 'nothings wrong.'
And then he turns around slowly, and walks along.

Hey Jess Cox!!.........I really enjoyed this read............the third person narration works perfectly and adds to the overall ambience............I really love your formatting too..........great sense of rhythm and timing here........the pain of the woman here is so very subtly conveyed.............that it adds to the tension............well conceived and beautifully conveyed............well done...........and........Welcome to COSMO...............smiles............T xo
