The Death of Chivalry

The Death of Chivalry

Some people say that the art of love and chivalry, is all but gone well so some say

But pray do say if you loved someone in that way, would chivalry not have a part to play?

Would you not sing sweet tunes in your true loves ear, would your heart not spin when she was near?

Oh come now my dearest chap, love and chivalry are all but part of the lovers destiny

When you hold you dearest tightly do you not whisper sweet little nothings to her?

When you let go do you not see the anguish that is in her heart, almost like this was the final part

C’mon now young men look upon you and see, what love and chivalry can really be?

Tell her sweetly, hold her tightly, make her feel like you will never let go until she answers yes or no

I say young man hold open a door and let a young lady go before, give her a smile and let her know

Your intentions are clear and if she would do you the honour of taking her to a show

Where you could show her the night, safely by your side holding her tight

Chivalry my friend if you get it right, will help you my friend, to find the woman that’s right

But with a sadden heart I have to say that chivalry has gone so what can I say

But with sadness in my heart, living a life that seems to be a lifetime apart

The youth of today no not of the power of chivalry, it is safe to say that a text is the way

With the modern family, how is it possible for love and chivalry, when the art of talking has been forgotten?

So I say with my heart harden and true, and so I say with such distain that chivalry has gone and never to be regained
