Deluding Cloudy Days

My eyes are clouded by puffs of infatuation,
Not allowing me to properly see.
I don’t see you for who you truly are
But more for the man I want you to be.
I ignore your flaws,
Look away from your imperfections.
I pay no mind to your faults,
Showering you blindly with love and affection.
I see a personal knight in shining armor,
A perfect being standing before me.
Until I realize such things do not exist in this world,
And that man disintegrates oh so suddenly.
I’ve driven down this one way street too many times,
I’ve seen it over and over, again and again.
Awareness chases the clouds away,
Bringing my pointless longing to an overdue end.
