Poem -

Denial.

Did you go somewhere quiet,
to find you some peace?
Did you like what you found
and decide not to leave?

Did you meet a boy
who swept you off your feet?
Did he see what you saw
and get down on one knee?

Though facts claim you’ve died,
that I cannot believe.
No, you must have just left,
finally ditched this city.

You have too much in store,
and far too much to see.
With your gift to heal wounds,
there’s so many to reach.

You’re still alive, dear…
because you have to be…
Because if you’re not,
there’s no reason for me.

Well, I’m glad you got out
and thankful you broke free.
Write me one day,
if you think to, honey.

I’ll just be here,
you will too, in my dreams
and we’ll reconnect
in due time, God willing.
