Poem -

Depression

I am not afraid
of this storm inside me

anymore,

the slow brew

of emotion that

rumbles on

the horizon like

approaching thunder,

and the trigger,

a sharp crack

of lightning that

very often sent me

into free-fall;

not anymore,

for it is a

part of me,

one that I cannot change,

and I will lasso

the tempest

and ride it safely

to the other side.
