Depth and Time

Depth and Time

The curves of my body roll
Like the ravines of the Great Canyon,
Fall, spiral out like the clash of a waterfall,
Looping up and over and around again as
A hawk in a free drive—
Over the cliff's edge.

This is me—This is him.

We are marvelous people,
At least that's how we see it.

His soul is an ocean, untamable,
Wild as a stallion.
To dip your toe in one quiet sea
Is to drown by hurricane in another—
No one knows what alien creatures
Linger in the numb abyss, just below the
Yappering otters on the surface.
Or the majesty of the moon on its glass face.

This is me—This is him.

We are the mysterious people,
At least that's how we see it.

It'll take my whole life to love
All of yours...
And love takes forever to fathom.

That's why the ring means eternity.
