Deserted
Speak not of love for thou know not what it means.
To abandon me in my darkest moment is not love
Thou bare false witness yet thou speaks of honor, that is not love
Thou transforms into a mute when I ask to hear what troubles thee that too is not love.
I reach out to you as I slowly drift into darkness, crying for you to lift my spirit and thou run into the night leaving me to die, does your heart tell thee that this is love?
I then ask who will comfort me when the one that speaks of love knows not what it means.
How can love be abused this way, beaten and turned to dust, stripped of all its glory?
To speak these words you must surrender to its will
The tender way in which it finds comfort,
Its force and power to protect and understand
The passion that burns within
It’s commitment to whomever these words are bestowed upon
To live and die for only one reason
Love
Speak not of love for thou know not what it means

MANNY!  I love this write! It reminds me of a poem written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning entitled "A Woman's Shortcomings"…the title is "tongue in cheek" as the poem reads exactly the opposite. In her poem she knows that the person has no idea what love means. The last stanza reads:
Unless you can muse in a crowd all day,
On the absent face that fixed you;
Unless you can love, as the angels may,
With the breadth of heaven betwixt you;
Unless you can dream that his faith is fast,
Through behoving and unbehoving;
Unless you can die when the dream is past--
Oh never call it loving!
