Diamond Voices

Diamond Voices

Just to hear your voice again
Would fill my heart with joy
Memories of my life gone by
Of when I was just a boy

My life was good, cos you worked so hard
The truth from me dad, your my shining star
Both you and mum,you did us proud
You'd standout like diamonds, from any crowd

Your my working class hero's,that is no lie
I tell my grandkids of my life gone by

I'll never be as good as you,but I'll try to get damn close
The life you gave me from the start,I love and thank you both

The love you gave was endless
I aim to do the same
I'll never fall short of this target
Cos there's only me to blame

To hear those voices
 Just one more time
The diamonds in my heart
Who will always shine

A very good friend of mine mentioned it would be nice just to hear his dads voice again and I agreed, that’s how this poem came about
