Did I lock my door ?

Did I lock my door ?

My muddled memory is lost in the back of my mind..as I track and trace old places my eyes are blind.. from shadows of darkness unclear and unkind..Yet try as I may but only flashbacks I find..

My mixed up memory is not as good as before.. How many times do I need to check if I locked my door ? Though I think I recall turning that key.. my memory is useless and plays tricks on me

So it’s the same old nuisance every single night.. I get up out of my bed in my forgetful plight..and I shuffle up the cold corridor in the shadows of the light.. but of course nobody can get in the house coz I’ve locked the door alright...?

Being Me

Hahaha... Oh I have done this sooo many times! Sometimes I tell myself... Tina, you locked the door now go to sleep! But there is always that little voice that pops up... But are you sure?  If you are sure then fine, go back to sleep. But only if you are sure because what will you do when a psyco axe murderer comes in and kills you all? There's only you to blame.   And so up I get dragging myself to the door to find it is locked. But then as I go to bed the dog decides he wants to go out for a quick sniff around in the garden. And the cat is insistant that I forgot to feed him earlier and he needs feeding now or he will die of starvation. And so I feed him (again). And then I see the kettle and end up making myself a cup of tea. And I let the dog back in. Lock the door. And go back to bed with the cup of tea. And I sit up in bed drinking tea a while. And when I finally get to rest my head again I have a thought... I let the dog out but did I lock the door after letting him in?  Did I?  Am I sure? ....

Great relatable write, Jill x
