Ding Dong Dummy

Ding Dong Dummy

I rarely get callers.
Perhaps if I replaced
my broken door bell
it could make a difference.

Every August I get
the NJ Pirg college
kids asking for money
to advocate for the
air & water qualilty
of N.J. to collect
my annual donation.
GOD BLESS THEM.

I buy a door bell wireless kit
from a local hardware store,
where the ringer is an electrical
plug in.

Two weeks later,
my bell is ringing
one to two times a day,
but when I go to the door,
it is a phantom caller.

Perhaps the local kids are
playing a prank on the
old man crank who gave them
candy they did not like
on Halloween.

Maybe I need hearing aids
or I am losing my mind?

WHY THE HELL DOES
MY DOOR BELL RINGER
KEEP RINGING???

The following week bar-b-queing
on the deck,  my neighbor tells
me about the new wireless
door bell he has installed.

The phantom ringings
are discovered.

My neighbor is much
more popular than me.
At least I know
when he gets company.

I finally take out door bell ringer.
Callers will have to knock
or yell loudly from here on in.
