Disappointing

Disappointing

Do you know how it feels to be loved in vain
To always let down the ones who care
To be the constant source of other’s pain
To turn away all the help they lay bare

But you try your best and somehow stray
And the fates haven’t yet gone your way
But you do not know why you wait
No reason you fail to participate

You have all the faith in the world
And you try so hard to be good
Just want to be loved by a girl
And to be understood

But intentions aren’t actions
You’ve not done all the fractions
And without trying you fail
You’ve left the sting in your tail

You need to shout from the clouds what you’ve got
The worlds not waiting for you to arrive
Otherwise be happy with your lot
Unless you’re truly prepared to strive

You’re stuck in a rut with no place to hide
And you won’t let anyone join your side
You’ve cocooned yourself from the world’s eyes
You just won’t listen no matter how hard they try

You’ve got a spark which you leave in the rain
The darkness descends and becomes your friend
You’re sad with joy and happy with pain
The madness inside you has no end

You can’t be yourself, you have to pretend
You think the way that you are will never mend
And those around you are filled with rage
Anger and frustration as you don’t fully engage

And you cry to the heavens that you’re misunderstood
Yet you still disappoint wherever you go
But you’re hollow intentions are just no good
It’s not what you’ve you got, it’s what you don’t show

You say you’ll do this and you say you’ll do that
But your tongue is too free and your words are too flat
And you’ll leave them wandering what might have been
You’ll leave them questioning all the things they’ve seen

And there you’ll be back to square one
And you’re stuck in a corner feeling sorry and glum
While everyone else is out having fun
You just want to feel, but all you feel is numb

You’re a racing car that has no gears
Been neglected, abandoned and hidden for years
Yearning, aching to get to the track
Wanting the front, but stuck at the back

You’re just disappointing
That’s all they can see
As far as they’re thinking
That’s all you’ll ever be

But the end result is up to you
All depends what you go out and do
And the ones who love you but are riddled with doubt
Might finally have reason to scream and shout
