“Distant Lover” (Inspired by Marvin Gaye)

Not so distant the spirit—my silent love. And such beautiful

Misery—our beating hearts. The sands beckon bliss—so

Many footprints. But joy—a distant love—a mental taunt.

Say a prayer—my heart—the misery—so beautiful. We

Shared love, a field of asters—a garden of daisies. The

Russet rose spoke of dreams; but never this pain, such

Beautiful pain. Our nights—so similar: our days—so distant.

I ponder leaves, and brave the hue. Our months, fraught

With passion: our fuse—exhausted. What is this misery?—

It’s no longer beautiful, my love. I beg—the impossible,

And chisel faith. So many promises—a sunset of dreams.

And now so distant—a foot to gravel. Trample not the

Beauty; rather frame the joy. For I yearn—the midnight

Blues—aflame—a distant lover.
