A Distant Shoreline

A DISTANT SHORELINE

Beyond the sea a distant shore awaits

A city’s walls with peace within its gates

A joyous song resounding from each heart

Where life everlasting finds its place to start

A perfect place where fear and death will end

Where the lion sees the infant lamb his friend

By the viper’s den the nursing child will play

There every tear is finally wiped away

There you’ll hear sweet songs the angels sing

Anthems to the praise of Heaven’s King

Upon the streets of gold as clear as glass

Where every care will find its time to pass

Yet now we see that coastline ever nearer

We all can view our lifetime in the mirror

We believe a distant shoreline still is waiting

Why then today are we still hesitating?

Each day we journey closer to that shore

Already there are those who’ve passed before

One day on that distant shore we each will land

And before that city’s King we each will stand
