Distant Voices

Distant Voices

In Memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

Silent.

A voice once spoken of truth,
A voice once spoken of justice
A voice once raised the roof
Of democracy, in justice and love.

Silent.

A voice in the wilderness crying,
A voice spoken to the masses,
A voice now silent dying
Dying out in the distance.

Silent.

A voice speaking out clearly,
A voice speaking out strong
A voice speaking to you and to me
Right unjust wrongs.

Silent.

A voice now silent and still,
A voice no more heard
A voice beyond the dusty past
And yet still silent....
