DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT I TOLD YOU?

Do you remember what I told you?
Can you picture how we were?
Stood amongst the throng of shoppers
How my heart I felt it stir
Not known you for a minute
But you took my breath away
Couldn’t bear the thought of losing you
But you? You couldn’t stay!
Had your wife; your 2.4
But I never questioned why
Your reasons for mistreating her
Didn’t care or want to pry
Our year it was a lifetime
But the moments went too fast
Savoured every part of you
Always knew it wouldn’t last
So it’s coming up to Christmas
And I’m feeling sad and blue
I’m dreaming looking at shop fronts
All I want this year is you!
But I know you won’t be visiting
Or passing through my door
No point in hanging mistletoe
I won’t need that anymore
The shoppers they keep passing
And I stand remember when
Our arms entwined; our eyes then lost
Will it ever be again?
Then I catch a man’s reflection
My heart won’t pause for air
I turn and see my nightmare
And the reflection holds my stare
I want to look away
But I’m captured by your eyes
The look of total shock
Disbelief and sad surprise!
For the people stood around you
Are the ones you left me for
Your safe, adoring wife
And your clichéd 2.4
A brief smile for a second
Then your wife she takes your hand
You kiss her on the cheek
You’ve got all your Christmas planned!
As you turn to take your leave
And you walk away once more
Do you remember what I told you?
You’re the man that I adored ......

Nice poem. BTW...Real women deserve so much more than a man with a wife and 2.4.
Thanks Gary; and I agree with you women do deserve more!! :)
