Dog moon bark

The hours are lost,  lost 

Time has cost, cost

The markets are closed, shut

The children are asleep, but 

For the Lord who has spoken 

As the worshipper now woken

Until one night the magpie

Swooped, swooped 

Upon the head of the beggar,

Drooped, drooped 

That the white moon shone

That hope now gone as 

Ye eye droops, droops

As thee heart weeps, weeps 

For the maiden seen in the dark
